Many companies only pay attention to their computer security after the damage has been done. According to a June 2001 survey conducted by the FBI and the Computer Security Institute, 85 percent of businesses detected computer security breaches within the last 12 months and 64 percent acknowledged financial losses as a result.

Ernst & Young have produced an ebusiness-related "How To" guide focusing on security of IT systems. This guide covers business risks associated with IT systems and makes recommendations on how to minimise such risks. It also helps to educate, raise IT security issues and provide solutions to possible problems.
