Diary – European Biotech: Endurance

Ernst & Young's 10th Annual European biotech report, Endurance, reveals that after a decade of 30-40% year-on-year growth in revenues and 10-20% increases in employee numbers, the European biotech sector stalled in 2002. Revenues fell by 2% to €12.9 billion ($14.5 billion) and employee numbers fell by 6% to 82,100. However, although the current downturn is deeper than those in the past, the future remains bright for the biotech industry in Europe

The report will be launched in early July

Community Platform

Back in 2000, Pat Maher of Enterprise Ireland challenged Ernst & Young to create a 'Community' for Ireland's high-potential entrepreneurs.

Why a Community?
With what common purpose and goal?
How was it to work?
What would be the critical success factors?
What would be expected of it's members?
What benefits?

Greg Byrne reviews his development work on Excellerator as a unique Community Platform and recaps the answers.
